The coastline at Kleinmond could have served as a set in Land of the Lost. The rocks, shaped by constant, pounding waves, open up into secret little grottoes dotted with crystal-clear saltwater microcosms. Between the tides, purple snails like mobile polished stones trace wiggly crop circles in the sediment. Here and there, fresh water drains toward the sea. Along those rivulets white calla lilies spring up, and tiny frogs sing to each other from inside the lilies like radar pings. It’s really a stunning environment.
